Hey All,
recently we were tasked with creating a presentation showcasing our departments use of UAVs in daily operations to present to the local rotary club. Hopefully it will help educate our community members more about our program. We would like to include a few slides to help address any common concerns and questions people have about UAVs and their regulations. Are their any common questions or concerns you all hear about UAVs and their use?
Thank you
IIt's great that your doing this! Great outreach. I often time hear people worried about drones falling from the sky. In my experience, that has never happened. That isn't to say I haven't had "collisions" but never an incident where I was way up iin the air and it just fell. Make sure you plug SCiDUC when you're there!!! Reach out to info@sciduc.org if there is something they can do to help.
Probably because our Agency includes a law enforcement component that is very publicly visible, our research and management activities are often mistakenly assumed to be related to law enforcement. We developed a basic set of talking points early on to help deal with public query in the field. In our experience, if folks see drone work in action and can find the operator, they will always ask questions.
Good to hear you are presenting to the public. The most common questions I receive concern 1) legality and 2) personal identifiable information. The public, in general, does not understand who/what/where/when drones can be flown over a location and the licensure (i.e. the RPCertificate in the USA) required or not required The second question concerns the imagery detail (or other sensors) that can be acquired and the concern a citizen may have over his/her property.
